The Gospel of Mark, Pt. 11

As we close out Mark 1, we come to a story in which Jesus cleanses a leper of this most debilitating and ostracizing disease. However, the story ends with a tragic example of disobedience that would go on to drastically effect the future of Jesus' public ministry.

Through this powerful story, however, we see a beautiful example of the gospel in which Jesus trades places with the leper in some significant ways. In the same way, Jesus becomes our substitute, in that he gets our sin, and we get his righteousness. In the end, we remember the leper in all of us, and the power of the gospel to save.
