The Gospel of Mark, Pt. 13

As we make our way into Mark 2, we read of Jesus' calling of Matthew and the uproar that ensues as Jesus and his disciples are "caught" eating and drinking with sinners. To the religious leaders of his day, this was a scandal, but to Jesus, he was giving us some powerful insight into the purpose of the gospel. Salvation was not for the spiritually "healthy" or self-righteous, but for those who acknowledged their own brokenness and sinfulness and need for a savior.
