"Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world."
James declares a very important element of the gospel in one sentence! The Church over the last 2000 years has claimed the power behind James’ inspired words.
Where would the world be today without the Church taking the gospel all around the world through the power of James 1:27? Christianity has been the driving force over the ages establishing hospitals, schools, and orphanages to stop the pain and suffering that so much of the world has experienced. So much of the world still is suffering under extreme poverty, economic shambles and political turmoil. And it’s Christianity that continues to bring the hope and healing that the world still needs. And this won’t stop until Jesus comes back! So let’s keep on impacting the world with the gospel!
I’m so proud of our church! We are making a difference around the world with our mission offerings that supports our 5000 missionaries around the world, starting new churches in some of the most dangerous places on earth, bringing a variety of support to struggling pastors and churches, providing clothing, dentistry and much more to the migrant workers throughout California, and bringing amazing relief in the face of natural disasters through Disaster Relief. All of this so that God’s gospel of grace impacts almost every people group on this planet. Praise God!
And now we will be taking the gospel of love to Haiti!
It was exciting to share with our church family on Sunday all the ways we can help this struggling nation. We at FBC get to bring the added help and healing needed in the poorest nation in the western hemisphere! When I asked if you wanted to help the orphanage in Mole St. Nicolas, WOW, to see you all respond the way you did!
Remember your $1000 offering (pictured below) will make it possible to expand the living space because that money will restore a large building (pictured below) that needs a tin roof and cement flooring. This will provide 3 large rooms for sleeping, studying and eating. All of us have made this happen! And we thank God!
As Pastor Jeremy and I reported, the orphanage is supported by Faith in Christ Church, and it’s the only one around for hundreds of miles! It is bringing the love of God to over 70 boys and girls who have no mother or father in their lives. And most of these children (pictured above) have never enjoyed 3 square meals in their entire lives, as they live on virtually one meal a day that consists of a bowl of white rice, and when available, cooked beans.
For Christmas it would be wonderful if we could provide more food for the month of December. So will you join Jill and me and give to bless these kids with much needed nutrition? For the last 2 weeks of November let’s see what we can do as a church family and then we will mail this offering to Faith in Christ Church.
We are excited to go back in June and bring the love and compassion of Christ to Haiti! Are you interested in impacting lives for Christ? Join us Tuesday November 28 @ 6:45pm as we prepare to organize an amazing mission trip for high school and adults.
